"Dr. Strange" Top Choices : Cumberbatch, Farrell and Reeves - Latest News, Updates, Spoilers and Release Date
Picking the actor to play "Doctor Strange" would be a bit tricky. Contenders are all great actors; it's just a matter of luck - and schedule availability. So who are the top three choices?
Top on the list is Collin Farrell. According to TheWrap, he is not new with superhero flicks. Farrell did a good job playing Bullseye in the film Daredevil. Presently, Farrell is shooting 'True Detective' under HBO film, but once finished he could pivot and do the role as "Dr. Strange". Farrell fans should cross their fingers.
Next in Line is Benedict Cumberbatch. The British actor might have a full plate these days. Shooting for the next season of 'Sherlock' is up on his sleeves. But still, a lot of followers are still hoping he will accept the sorcerers' role.
Last, but definitely not the least, is Keanu Reeves. The 'Matrix' star may have an open schedule to do the role of "Dr. Strange", but two reasons may stand in the way. One, comic franchise might not appeal to Reeves; and second, when asked in Reddit AMA if he wants the role, Reeves more or less replied that he is more interested to do a 'Constantine' sequel.
Meanwhile Inquisitr reports that Joaquin Phoenix might be interested, but then again he might not. Phoenix is having second thoughts about the role. TheWrap disclosed that his publicist said that the deal is dead. It went cold even before the New York Film Festival. Viewers may just have to wait for the final decision.
Also in the grapevine list are: Johnny Depp, Oscar Isaac, Jared Leto, Patrick Dempsey, Tom Hardy, Justin Theroux, Ethan Hawke and Ryan Gosling. According to Hollywood Reporter , Gosling is also in the A-list of actors showing interest in the neurosurgeon turned Supreme Sorcerer.
Marvel Comics superhero "Dr. Strange" is a pompous neurosurgeon turned Sorcerer Supreme, guardian of human kind. His full name is Stephen Vincent Strange and his life and career was totally altered because of an accident. Fixated on getting his old life back, he rolled the dice and took his chances to see the 'Ancient One' somewhere in Himalayas. The 'Ancient One' knew that Strange can do and be more. What he did next changed "Dr. Strange" for the better. He became the white knight, the Sorcerer who will go against nefarious forces.
With all the rumors going around, only one thing is sure - viewers can capture the movie 'Dr. Strange' come July 2016.
