HTC Re Camera Pro's and Con's: Innovative Snapper But Is It Really Necessary?
HTC Re Camera Pro's and Con's: Innovative Snapper But Is It Really Necessary?
HTC take a big leap after releasing a uniquely odd camera that is seen as a possible GoPro rival. Known as the maker of tech-advance but affordable smartphones, HTC has recently surprised the crowd as they unveiled their flagship snapper, HTC Re.
During its launch, and even before it was finally unveiled, the great news maker is its odd shape that is said to look like a PVC tube, a piece of submarine, and even an asthma inhaler. But after the buzz about its shape, tech-buffs have predicted that it may not hit the market as something necessary.
In a report, Metro cited that HTC has been innovative with the HTC Re amid the fact that tech-world's trend is really about smartphones, with large display screens and high-caliber features and gadget, but making a refreshing gadget is entirely different when it comes to selling it.
"HTC's created something really interesting, but persuading people to use it rather than just pull out their phone is going to be a tough job."
To be able to know if the unique HTC Re will catch up in terms of sale, here are its strong and weak points that can make you bought one or forget that it was made in the first place.
HTC Re Camera is primarily original, in both positive and negative ways, as 3g reported. You cannot see something in the market that has the same shape. That itself, can be a criteria for this new device to stand-out among the crowd. On the other hand, it is also innovative as it is a device that has no display screen.
The lack of viewfinder is odd and can be seen as its cons as well. To be able to see what you have captured, user will have to connect the camera to his smartphone, which is against its marketing statement - that this snapper will give the leeway of getting your phone just to take an action scene.
During its launch, HTC officer has also said that HTC Re is a very user-friendly camera because its shape is easy to grip and its weight is very light. The few features present in the odd camera is its lens and its snapper button, thus, users can easily take pictures, especially of moving and action scenes. This literally point-and-shoot camera also has 146 degrees wide angle and 16MP lens that can produce high quality photos.
Because it is light and small, taking an HTC Re Camera with you is an ease. If you are about to take off to an adventure like hiking, jogging, biking, or even swimming, carrying large and heavy action cameras can be an added hassle. With the waterproof feature and high quality lens, HTC Re can be considered as a good replacement for bulky action snappers.
In terms of price, HTC Re is said to be a bit expensive, which is not HTC's trademark because they are known for their affordable but high-caliber smartphones. NDTV cited that the camera is available at $199 which comes with 8GB internal storage. This can be expanded up to 128 GB through its micro SD slot.
HTC Re Camera is a promising unique device, but to be able to hit their target sales, HTC may have to do some price adjustments.
